What the heck is this?

 
 
Found this little guy out by the compost heap - no idea what it is. Anyone got a clue?

used my 18-200mm AFS DX VR telephoto for this (as this is what was on camera at the time) probably should have changed it for the Tamron 90mm Macro for a better shot. Posted by Picasa

    He's a hawthorne shieldbug. Do you have a Hawthorne nearby? They also eat White Beam and Oak. Harmless to people and plants.
